Commissioning Artwork

An art commission begins with a connection to an artist’s work, an idea or a place.

Commissioning an artwork is a personal journey, shaped through dialogue between client, artist and advisor. It offers the opportunity to create an original work with your space and interests in mind. These images were of the preparation for a commission by Anglo-Danish artist Kristian Bluff.

At Rees Davies Art Advisory, I guide you through each stage, from selecting an artist and agreeing the brief, scale, budget and timeframe to coordinating delivery and installation.

Early conversations explore what draws you to the artist’s practice. Depending on how the artist works, sketches, colour studies and studio visits can help establish a shared direction while allowing their creative vision room to develop.

Throughout the process, I facilitate communication, clarify expectations and help you make informed decisions. Once the work is complete and approved, framing, delivery and installation is arranged as appropriate.

The result is an original artwork with a personal story and a lasting place in your home, collection or project.
